Moraine Valley’s Computer Graphics Imagery (CGI) Program can prepare you for great jobs ranging from computer gaming, advertising, television, print media, and multimedia to engineering and architecture. You’ll learn the fundamentals of computer generated imagery, three-dimensional animation and character animation.

The use of computer generated imagery is well established in the areas of movie production, computer games, architectural visualization, broadcast and interactive design. Bring ideas, images, and objects to life with the latest software and hardware in our state-of-the-industry computer labs. Students will use this software and hardware to design a multitude of animations and designs, preparing them for real-world careers.

Moraine Valley additionally offers four supplemental certificate programs that include, Computer Graphics Associate, Computer Graphics Professional, Computer Graphics Designer, Computer Graphics Master.

This program provides students with contemporary training and experience in the emerging and high-employment field of computer graphics imagery (CGI). Engineering and architectural firms employ skilled workers in computer graphics to create photo-realistic renderings, two- and three-dimensional computer animations, and three-dimensional models for manufacturers, designers, customers and builders. Computer graphics imagery technologies focus on the possible relationships between parts, objects, people and environments. Computer-generated models are matched to real-world data in order to build simulations. Computer graphic architectural modeling tools allow designers to visualize space and generate interactive and virtual environments at the part, system and environment levels.

Employment of multimedia artists and animators is projected to grow 5% from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Projected growth will be due to increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television. Job growth may be slowed, however, by companies hiring animators and artists who work overseas. Studios may save money on animation by using lower paid workers outside of the United States.

Consumers will continue to demand more realistic video games, movie and television special effects, and three-dimensional movies. This will create demand for newer computer hardware, which will enhance the complexity of animation and visual effects. Additional multimedia artists and animators will be required to meet this increased demand.

Further, an increased demand for computer graphics for mobile devices, such as smart phones, will lead to more job opportunities. Multimedia artists will be needed to create animation for games and applications for mobile devices.
